About

Paweł Olejnik is a professor at Lodz University of Technology (TUL). His scientific work primarily focuses on the natural sciences, including physics, mathematics, and mechanics. He places particular emphasis on dynamical analysis, numerical computation, optimization, and the control of continuous and discontinuous dynamical systems. Additionally, he conducts experimental research in laboratories.

  • In 2023: Appointed as the Head of the Department of Automation, Biomechanics, and Mechatronics in January 2023 by the Rector of Lodz University of Technology, upon the request of the Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (FME).
  • From 2019: Employment as a professor at TUL related to participation in various committees in FME.
  • In 2018-2021: Cooperation on the didactic program of studies for the field of Automation and Robotics at FME. 
  • In 2013: D.Sc. degree in Applied Mechanics from TUL preceded by an issue of the monograph that covered special applications of numerical methods for solution of discontinuous dynamical systems.
  • In 2009-2015: Cooperation on the didactic program of studies for the field of Mechatronics at FME.
  • Since 2007: Member of the organizing committee of the international conference "Dynamical Systems – Theory and Applications", from 2017 as Vice-Chairman.
  • In 2002: Ph.D. degree after defending a doctoral dissertation in applied mechanics with a distinction of experimental research (reviews). At that time, designing and launching a small research stand to familiarize a wider audience with the experimentally modeled discontinuous (stick-slip) mechanical system of a two-stage drum brake mechanism with two degrees of freedom. Publication of numerical and experimental research results in scientific journals and presentation at several national and international conferences.
  • In 2000: M.Sc. Eng. diploma in computer physics of TUL after 5-year studies at the Faculty of Technical Physics, Computer Science and Applied Mathematics in Lodz (Poland).
  • Since 1999: with the Department of Automation, Biomechanics and Mechatronics of TUL; Lectures in the theory of control, optimisation, mechatronics; Excesises in Scilab, LabVIEW, Matlab, Java programming languages; Real-world and numerical experimentation.
  • In 1995: professional title of "Technician in Machining" after 5-year studies at the Technical School in Zduńska Wola (Poland).

  • Mathematical modeling and numerical simulation of a double variable-length pendulum with counterweight mass, kinematic excitation and friction. The results were published in 2023 in Nonlinear Dynamics
  • Examining the impact of relatively low-frequency structural vibrations on the sliding frictional connection in a chain of mechanical oscillators with variable normal force. The results were published in 2023 in Machines
  • A review and experiment on intelligent Mechatronics in the measurement, identification, and control of water level systems. The results were published in 2022 in Machines
  • Elaboration of a numerical adaptive tracking PID and FOPID speed control of a direct current induction machine. The results were published in 2021 in Applied Sciences-Basel
  • Experimental identification of a kinetic friction force model in the pendulum with a rotational contact with friction and impacts. The results were published in 2020 in Nonlinear Dynamics
  • Application of an algorithm of precise numerical solution of dynamics and computation of the spectrum of Lyapunov exponents of chaotic motion of a model of variable length two-degrees-of-freedom oscillator. The results were published in 2019 in Mathematical and Computational Applications
  • Elaboration of a numerical procedure for visualisation of almost quasi-periodic motions in a model of single-degree oscillator with a step-wave modulated length and forcing. The results were published in 2019 in International Journal of Structural Stabilitysimulation
  • Elaboration of a numerical method based on coupled oscillators approach for identification of nonlinear damping of real vibrating systems, for which a free step response is accessible as a time series (based on experiments of the PhD thesis).   • Elaboration of an algorithm for approximate numerical solution of planar discontinuous dynamical systems. The method was published in 2013 in the D.Sc. thesis, and in 2015 in Applied Mathematical Sciences
  • Elaboration of a numerical procedure for visualisation of influence of time delays in modelling of frontal thoracic blast pressure wave responses. The method was published in 2015 in International Journal of Dynamics and Controlsimulation
  • Elaboration of an algorithm for numerical estimation of discontinuous transitions existing in Filippov-type dynamical systems. The algorithm was published in 2013 in the D.Sc. thesis, and in 2014 in Nonlinear Dynamics
